Parent & Guardian Consent
1. Why guardian consent may be required
RYLA Next can involve mentorship, learning, leadership activities, digital communication, community projects, career-development activities and interaction with mentors, administrators and approved partners.
Where a participant is below 18, RYLA Next may require authorisation from a parent or lawful guardian before activating particular participation or processing activities.
2. Information requested from a guardian
The consent process may request:
- parent or guardian full name;
- relationship to the participant;
- telephone number;
- email address;
- the participant's identity;
- confirmation of authority to provide consent; and
- a dated electronic confirmation.
3. What participation consent covers
A parent or guardian may be asked to authorise the young person's participation in RYLA Next and the reasonable processing of information needed to administer, safeguard and deliver the programme.
4. Media consent is separate
Permission to use a minor's identifiable photograph, video, audio or testimonial for publicity or promotional purposes should be treated separately from basic participation consent.
Declining optional promotional media consent should not ordinarily prevent a young person from participating in RYLA Next.
5. Safeguarding
Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the RYLA Next Safeguarding Policy and to report any concern about inappropriate communication, exploitation, harassment or conduct involving a young participant.
6. Consent records
RYLA Next may record the identity of the person providing consent, the relevant policy version, the date and time of consent and reasonable technical information necessary to maintain an audit record.
7. Withdrawal or questions
Questions concerning guardian consent or requests concerning optional consents may be sent to rylanext@iretura.com.
Questions about these policies may be sent to rylanext@iretura.com.
